Julia: A Poem

JULIA

is matty’s little girl
and she’s the cutest thing.
her nose looks like two
peanuts when we sing
little tea cup in the
backseat of the mini
van my buddy is driving.
he’s laughing. every time
julia drops her ball i pick
it up. every time i drop the
ball nobody gets it but me.
his pregnant wife is sleeping
in the front seat. i look over
at julia and she waves good-bye.
i look at matty. i tell him to
keep the tv. he hands me ten
bucks and smiles at the naples
greyhound bus station.
