At the end, we slept in shifts indoors; the sun and the moon kept their secrets. It was better to remember that each day was the same, work and meals and rest, without beginnings or ends.
Until the crack, high in the corner.
We began to know mornings again. We began to know nights. We began to know seasons, shifts in the wind, scent of honeysuckle, humid warmth, sweet rot, clean cold.
Day by day, we let in more light. Day by day, we let out more dark.
And we began to believe in change again.
