Shady Smiles

A poem by Rikku

A friend, a friend
My lovely friend.
My friend, my friend
Her name draws a blank.
Her beauty
Her smarts
Her angelic smile
Her silence and her niceties
A small translucent cover for her demonic aura
Her style of speech cuts me like a scythe.
Her admonishments evoke blood tears.
Her deeds, her sins
They’re worse than death.
Her piercing look
Catches the unfortunate in a viselike grip.
She sears her opposition
With a couplet of shady smiles
As she slips behind your back
Stealthily stealing your lives.
Like a vampire
She’ll drink until she’s satisfied.
A friend, a friend
My lovely friend.
Her name, her name
It draws a blank.
Her breath, her breath
It’s choking me.
She’ll greet you with her shady smiles.
