.ETCETERA

A poem by Ron Miraflores

Visionaries and poets once
Looked into the horizon
As if the earth was still
Actually flat, as if
The horizontal plane
Before them was
The edge of the world,
Where films and stories ended,
And cued the beginning of
The credit roll.

It's all a mirage
Like the "end of human civilization"
Because the sun will rise
Even after the last person dies.

The sun does not
Set in the West,
But only rises in the East.

The sun does not
Submerge under the horizon
For there are no
Such things as periods--
Only commas.
