Elements of Surprise & Laughter
by Timothy M. Leonard
silk of orb weaver folds
creases on faces, fabrics
heavy lives fearful water
rumbling train grain cars hurtle
south toward Oregon north toward
Canadaeverything else caught & seen
in between shifts of engineers.....
ferry disgorges vehicles
rumbling anger angst foot throttled
on land high and fry
quick! turn!
lights zooming forest night
curbs and plows, penitentiary bus
returned home bodies worried
about grandchildren floating
left unattended by responsible fools
dancing on distant islands
enveloped by darks happiness
magic show
illusion creating magic
as Balinese dancers perform puppet plays
