High School Medley
by Matt Borondy
I wrote some poems way back in high school. I found them in a box.
I typed them. Here they are:
imagery
in the dawn
is imagery.
Get the picture?
haiku #2
"Hola!" said the cow
little did he know: he was
a cow, after all.
the bowling poem
It's like
I don't get it or something.
What's wrong with a chimpanzee?
Is it he who is me or she?
forget it, i'm going bowling.
strikes are for ebullient girls.
i like to yell like a drunkard and sing
"the little drummer boy" as I slide rampantly down the lane
and fifty losers stare at me and laugh.
but they are in the same place as me
and they just follow the others
by trying to get a perfect game.
but how can they be perfect
at playing someone else's game?
I never saw a moron
I never saw a moron
quite noticable as me
but know I how to read a book
and what a sonnet be
I never spoke with a Dot
nor to an asylum been driven
but certain am I of the idiot
as if a face were given.
to make a dairy
to make a dairy
it takes one cow and a me
a cow and one me
and idiocy
but the idiocy alone will do
'cause cows are few.
untitled
bang
the suicidal puppy strolled across the busy street
in a suicidal daze
He walked in silence, but was not alone
for his mouth was chewing on a bone.
God, I love this country.
he did, too.
until the semi destroyed his bone
and he ran away.
(laughter makes a person healthy)
you told
me not
to laugh
but i
will live
longer
than you
