I'm certain the decision to rescue Jessica Lynch had nothing to do with the possibility of finding any other missing coalition soldiers as well. Eleven US soldier's bodies were found and recovered by the way. I am certain that no extra time, machinery, manpower, or risk was spent on recovering those eleven bodies, even though the single body of Jessica Lynch was the one body they had a map directly to, ahead of time. Those bodies weren't blonde, female, or alive enough to waste risk on. In fact, they probably snuck onto the helicopters. It's just a good thing for them that those helicopters are so spacey that they could go unnoticed because there is no way that the special ops soldiers planned on the extra load. I am certain that the decision had nothing to do with the Iraqi who risked his life and his family's lives several times just to notify the marines of her location.

Mohammed had to walk more than 6 miles out of Nasiriyah, along an open road in an area that Marines have nicknamed "Ambush Alley."

The madness of saving Jessica

Would so many men and so much expensive machinery have been risked for the rescue of a jar-head marine of 19, a black boy of 19, a homosexual boy of 19 or a poor white boy of 19 from the same incestuous hills of West Virginia among which Jessica was born?

I doubt it. This girl was rescued not because she was a heroine, not because she was brilliantly qualified and not because she was in possession of information and skills that must on no account be betrayed to the enemy.

She was rescued for no other reason than that she is a girl, and the all-American blonde to boot. The rescue of Jessica Lynch was portrayed even in our most sober and sensible broadsheets as an exploit of extraordinary derring-do, of heroism, valour, audacity, chivalry and chutzpah.

J.Lo and Ben Affleck to remake the classic movie Casablanca

Hollywood couple J.Lo and Ben Affleck have secured a deal to remake the classic movie Casablanca. Affleck will take the romantic lead as Rick, the Daily Star reports. Lopez will play the former lover who had jilted him but comes back into his later life - married to a French resistance leader.

A friend said: "It is the chance for them to show how much they love each other through their on-screen chemistry."

This makes me want to puke.
