John McDermott

John McDermott -- mcdermott2000@comcast.net -- has lived in New Jersey for most of his life, with breaks including four years teaching English in China and Japan. He is an associate professor of ESL at Union County College, N.J., and editor of US1 Worksheets poetry magazine. His first book, Along the Way, will be published in spring 2005 by Everyday Path Press.

A few months before
my older son took his life
he called home and told his mom
I saw beauty
